On
December 23, 2007, a special event will be held for Jaliek
Rainwalker, the 12 year-old who disappeared from Greenwich, New York
on November 1st.
The
event is called “Light the Night for Jaliek”. The theme is
“Searching for Jaliek, Searching for the Truth, Searching for
Justice”. The event will take place inside and outside the
Greenwich VFW on Abeel Avenue in Greenwich, just a few blocks away
from where his adoptive father last reported seeing him.
The
event, scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM and end at 7:30 PM will feature
a special lighting of twelve search lights aimed into the night sky,
one for each year of his young life. Jaliek’s maternal
grandparents, his former pre-adoptive foster family and the respite
family who took care of him for six days before he disappeared will
all be among the people who will light the special lights. Coffee,
hot chocolate and cookies will be served and everyone will receive a
Christmas ornament with Jaliek’s picture on it to hang on their tree
so that we can all keep him in our thoughts and prayers this holiday
season.
In
addition, a huge Christmas card will be available for well-wishers
to sign. Inside, the card reads, “May God be with you wherever you
are.”
